Ambala in Haryana recorded the highest AQI of 367 followed by Amritsar in Punjab at 350, while Delhi’s average AQI was 339; PM2.5 levels in Delhi reached values seen only in mid-winter months.
Ninety-nine of the 265 cities for which Air Quality Index (AQI) data were available on the Central Pollution Control Board website reported “poor” air quality on Friday.
An AQI value of 200 or above corresponded to “poor” quality.
