An expert committee and lab reports have failed to confirm the exact cause of sudden loss of consciousness among Kendriya Vidyalaya students recently.
District Collector Kritika Shukla unequivocally stated that the expert committee reports and lab reports showed that there was no valid reason for the KV students not breathing and fainting.
On September 6, 18 students from KV were admitted to the Government General Hospital in Kakinada with breathing difficulties. After two days, they recovered quickly and were discharged and attending school normally.
But two of them, after discharge, fell ill and the parents immediately approached Principal B Shekhar, who suggested a thorough check-up. He said he should attend school only after recovery.
On the instructions of the principal, the parents took their children to GGH-Kakinada for check-ups. Due to lack of beds in the hospital, the students were sent back without treatment, so they immediately turned to a private hospital for treatment.
Later recovered and became normal. Collector Kritika Shukla said that no clue was found in the food and blood samples regarding the illness of the 18 KV students, and nothing was found in the lab reports and expert committee reports.
She made it clear that there were no chemicals or poisonous gases at the time of the incident in Kendriya Vidyalaya.
After a thorough investigation, the expert committee found no harmful substance or gas in the incident. They also checked the oxygen and chemical levels in the samples and found no harmful content," informed the collector. But some parents questioned why the children suddenly lost consciousness and gasped.
They alleged that the expert committee and the lab technicians failed miserably to find the cause of the incident. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Collector made a surprise visit to Kendriya Vidyalaya and spoke to the staff and students about the incident.
She inspected the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya and inspected the water tank. She collected information from the students about the teaching method and methodology adopted for teaching. Students answered positively about the quality of teaching and expressed satisfaction with the performance of the school.
Collector Kritika Shukla asked students and parents not to worry about the incident as she herself inspected the classrooms including ventilation. She said that she will work hard to create infrastructure in the school. She promised to set up a special lab instead of a regular classroom.
