The Maha Padayatra of Amaravati Farmers from Amaravati to Arasavalli of Srikakulam district, demanding the government to continue Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, ended successfully in Krishna district on Sunday.
The six-day long march in Krishna district received good response from farmers, TDP supporters, Janasena and Left parties. On September 20, the padayatra entered Diviseema of Krishna district from Guntur district.
The march, which went through Avanigadda, Machilipatnam, Pedana and Gudivada assembly constituencies till September 25, entered Denduluru constituency of Eluru district on Sunday.
Despite the police restrictions, the farmers' march received huge response in every constituency. In Krishna district, TDP president of Krishna district, former MP Konkalla Narayana Rao and former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao went on a padayatra with the farmers.
Kollu Ravindra, former deputy speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad, Pedana TDP in-charge Kahija Krishna Prasad, Gudivada TDP in-charge Ravi Venkateswara Rao, other party leaders, former MLA Bode Prasad, CPI leader Muppalla Nageswara Rao, Machilipatnam Parliamentary Constituency Janasena leaders Yadlapalli Ram Sudhir, Sammetta Babu etc Followed.
Konakalla Narayana Rao said that there was a great response to the farmers' march in Krishna district and thousands of farmers and common people participated in this march in solidarity with the farmers of Amaravati.
He also said that the padayatra was continued for about 85 kilometers in six days in the district. On the other hand, the Krishna District Police ended the padayatra peacefully.
The march ended peacefully except for minor protests and arguments between the police and TDP leaders. District SP P. Joshua took special care and monitored the trip very closely to prevent any untoward incident.
