The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday said it will install 72,000 TV sets and purchase five lakh tablet computers (tabs) with pre-loaded Byjju’s e-learning content meant for public school student’s classrooms in phases, a total of Rs. 512 crores.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with senior officials to review Nadu Nedu (Our School: Then and now).
The government will purchase 5,18,740 tabs with pre-loaded Byjju’s content along with smart TVs and interactive TVs. Officials said that 72,481 TV sets are required and will be installed in classrooms in a phased manner and will cost Rs.512 crore. The first phase of digitization will be completed by next March; officials were quoted as saying in a statement.
Reddy insisted on conducting a monthly audit of the facilities and other aspects of the renovated schools under the scheme.
He said the scope of audit should also cover utilization of management fund and display a phone number for any complaints. Officials said that a toll-free number has already been set up.
The CM suggested that the first phase of digitization of classrooms should be completed by next March and internet facility should be provided in all schools. Besides schools, all village secretariats, RBKs (Raitu Bharosa Kendra) and village clinics should have internet facilities.
