Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the national capital and discussed the strategy for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the possibility of bringing like-minded parties together.

According to Congress sources, Kumar, who met Gandhi for the first time after his reunification with Mahaghatbandhan, the Congress arm in Bihar, thanked the Wayanad MP for his party's support to his government.

The Bihar Chief Minister also met former Karnataka CM and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy during his visit to Delhi.

The meeting was held amid buzz that Kumar was trying to declare himself as the prime ministerial candidate in 2024. However, he cleared the air on the matter.

It is noteworthy that Kumar met with opposition leaders a few days after Telangana Chief Minister KCR visited Bihar and discussed the political situation in the country.

However, KCR avoided giving a direct answer to the question of whether Nitish Kumar will contest as the opposition's prime ministerial candidate during the one-day visit saying that the opposition will meet and take a decision.

KCR, who spoke to the media as part of his visit to Bihar, questioned whether the opposition would nominate Bihar CM Nitish Kumar as the next prime ministerial candidate.

KCR lashed out at the Center saying that the value of the rupee had not depreciated so much before during the Modi-led BJP government. Why did the farmers have to protest for more than a year Implemented by the Centre?"

KCR criticized that BJP's mission is to remove all opposition parties from the political arena. He said that it is a shame that the ruling party has said that all other political parties will be eliminated.
