By Our Special Correspondent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the Chandigarh airport will now be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh as a tribute to the great freedom fighter. PM Modi said in the 93rd episode of his monthly Mann Ki Baat speech that the Chandigarh airport will henceforth be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

"We have decided to name the Chandigarh airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh as a tribute to the great freedom fighter," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Last week, PM Modi requested people to share their views on the campaign to name the cheetahs brought to India from Namibia. Leopards released in Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh.

PM Modi added, "It would be great if naming cheetahs is in line with our traditions. Also, suggest how humans should treat animals. Take part in this contest & be the first to see cheetahs."

He said people from all over the country have expressed their joy at the return of cheetahs, and 1.3 crore Indians are elated and proud.

Cheetahs were declared extinct in India in 1952, but on September 17, eight cheetahs (5 females and 3 males) were brought from Namibia, Africa as part of 'Project Cheetah' and the government's efforts to revive and diversify the country's wildlife and habitats.
