Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday questioned how late YS Rajasekhara Reddy's name is suitable for the NTR Health University established in 1986.
Naidu said in an official statement that the YSRCP government approved the bill to change the name of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences to Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences in the Assembly on Wednesday.
The TD demanded that NTR's name should be retained for the university, he added.
Naidu said that NTR University was established with the intention of having a separate head for all medical institutions. After the death of the former CM in 1998, the then TD government named the university after him.
Naidu said that no chief minister including the late Rajasekhara Reddy wanted to change the name, but Jagan wanted to change the name.
He said that the present government has not been able to establish a single institution in any part of the state, but is thinking of changing the names of the institutions that have been established.
Naidu said that the Jagan government does not have funds even to organize the annual graduation ceremony in the university.
