China has emerged as India’s top import source, with $56.3 billion worth of inbound shipments during the April-Sept period of this fiscal, according to the commerce ministry data.
During this period, the US became India’s top export destination, with outbound shipments increasing by 5.6% to $40.4 billion. Imports from china rose by 11.5% during the first half of this fiscal, compared to $50.5 billion during April –Sept 2023.The top 10 import sources for India during this period were China, Russia, the UAE, the US, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Korea, Switzerland, and Singapore, the data showed.
