Ensure a bright future to students: Jagan to teachers

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that teachers should play a vital role in shaping the future of students in the competitive world. Speaking at the Teachers' Day celebrations organized here on Monday under the auspices of the School Education Department, he reiterated that the state government has brought many reforms in the education sector to provide quality education to the students.

Commemorating Teacher's Day, former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary was celebrated by garlanding his statue. Alexander the Great quotes "I owe my father for living, but my teacher for living well" to convey the importance of a teacher in society.

The state government is giving utmost priority to the education sector for the bright future of the students.

It has spent over Rs 53,000 crore on education in the last three years under various schemes aimed at keeping Andhra Pradesh top in the country in terms of educational standards, literacy rate, checking school dropout rate and achieving 70% gross enrolment ratio in higher education,” he said.

Congratulating the teachers on this occasion, he said that the reforms introduced by the government are aimed at building a better society for the youth without putting the teachers in trouble.

The reforms include Nadu-Nedu, Jagananna Goru Mudda, English medium education, Vidya Kanuka, CBSE syllabus, subject teachers, Baijus package, tablets for eighth graders, digital classrooms, teacher skill enhancement, Vidya divena, renovation of government schools under accommodation deevena.

He said that their aim is to provide quality education to the downtrodden sections of the society and provide a better future to the downtrodden sections.

Jagan said that reforms such as increasing the retirement age to 62 years, giving promotions to teachers have been brought in, and his government is sincerely working to solve the pension problem which has not been resolved for a long time.

The Chief Minister alleged that during the previous TDP regime, problems were not solved and all sectors including education, medical and transport sectors were crippled.

He accused the YSRCP of speaking against the government and inciting teachers for political mileage. Later, the Chief Minister honored 176 teachers with best teacher awards in recognition of their services.
