Health Minister says, Govt committed to providing free Medicare to poor

Medical and Health Minister Viddala Rajini said that with the initiative of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the family doctor concept will be introduced soon. She said that the family doctor concept will revolutionize the health sector.

Addressing a review meeting on the health sector on Monday, the minister directed the officials to prepare YSR village health clinics, urban health centers and primary health centers for successful implementation of the family doctor concept. She said that the state government is spending Rs 2,532 crore for the construction and development of government hospitals.

The state government is determined to provide free medical and health facilities to the poor. She said that construction of 1032 village clinics has been undertaken with Rs.1500 crores.

Apart from this, Rs.665 crore has been allocated for the modernization of 184 urban health centers and the construction of 344 new urban health centers. She said that Rs.367 crore has been allocated for the modernization of 976 primary health centres.

The minister directed the officials to complete the works of the hospitals within a year. Special Chief Secretary of Medical and Health Department MT Krishnababu and other officials participated.
