India Clean Sweeps Both T20I & ODI Series Against West Indies

dia completed a fine clean sweep of their three-match T20I series against West Indies with a 17-run win in the final game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on February 20, 2022. After being asked to bat first, India posted 184 for 5 in 20 overs on the back of 65-run knock by Suryakumar Yadav who bagged the Man of the Match award. In their response, West Indies were restricted to 167 for 9 in their 20 overs. The win helped skipper Rohit Sharma’s team overtake England at the top of the ICC T20I team rankings. India won first and second match by 6 wickets and 8 runs respectively. SuryakumarYadav also bagged the Man of the Series award.

ODI Series: Earlier, with a 96-run victory in the third and final ODI in Ahmedabad on February 11, 2022. India completed a first-ever ODI series whitewash win over the West Indies. India rode on 50s from Shreyas Iyer (80)and Rishabh Pant (56) to post a total of 265 from 50 overs. In response, the hosts bowled out the visitors for 169, with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna both picking 3 wickets each. Iyer won the Man of the Match award while Krishna picked the Man of the series award. India had defeated West Indies by 6 wickets in the opening ODI and by 44 runs in the second one. This was India’s first whitewash win in an ODI series since 2017, when the team claimed a clean sweep over Sri Lanka in a five-match series. This was also India’s first ODI series whitewash at home since 2014. In the process, white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma became the eighth Indian captain to lead the team to an ODI series whitewash win.
