Competing with around 1,000 international students, an Indian student, Amar Babu Tula, has bagged the best foreign student award at the University of Rostock, Germany.

The DAAD prize is awarded to foreign students with special academic achievements and remarkable social cultural engagement.

It is awarded every year during the annual ceremony of the university and is worth 1000€(rs. 60,000).

Amar, who is pursuing Computational Engineering, said that all round performance in the university had helped him bag the prestigious award.

“I completed my regular course one semester ahead with an excellent grade topping the class and my active participation in inter-cultural events held at the university added strength to the claim. Along with my regular courses, I also contributed my knowledge to my professor as a student assistant for his research,” he said.

Amar says he is the first Indian student in history to take this award and that too competing with 922 foreign students from 87 different countries.
