The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully placed the NVS-01 navigation satellite weighing around 2232 kg into geosynchronous transfer orbit on May 29. The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) carrying the satellite lifted off from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Center Shor in Sriharikota with a thunderous roar at exactly 10.42 am.
