By Our Special Correspondent

Many film actors entered politics and won with huge majority. But only some of them have made their mark in their constituencies. Film actor and politician Mr. Upalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju is one such chosen one.

He was first elected from the Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency with the third largest majority recorded in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections. He is a BJP candidate. As MP of Kakinada, he served the people of Bandar town a lot. He took the first step towards placing Kakinada on the main railway line by connecting it with Pithapuram.

This is a long pending demand since independence. Krishnamraju was the MP of Kakinada for the first time when this project was mentioned in the railway budget and a token of Rs.1 lakh was allocated in the budget.

The promise has not yet been fulfilled. Furthermore, people appreciated Krishna Raju's efforts in various projects of Kakinada region.

He was elected to the Lok Sabha this time from Narsapur of West Godavari district in 1999 general elections. He left his mark in the constituency. Under the Gramin Sadak Yojana launched by the Vajpayee government, funds have been sanctioned for laying roads in many villages of the constituency.

Due to his efforts, the road connectivity in Narsapur constituency has improved a lot.
