Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is likely to expand his cabinet after Dussehra. Many Shinde camp MLAs are eagerly waiting for the second phase of the cabinet.
Sources said that the petitions of various clubs are pending in the Supreme Court and on September 27 the Supreme Court is likely to give a clarification on the party symbol and who is the real Shiv Sena.
“Once we get clarity, the cabinet can be expanded after Dussehra. Things are still unclear,” said an MLA from the Shinde camp, requesting anonymity. Interestingly, in the first phase of cabinet expansion, many ministers got portfolios, but they took their portfolios because of 'Pitru Paksha'.
Earlier, they delayed taking up responsibilities due to Ganesh festival and now citing 'Pitru Paksha' - inauspicious months for any auspicious work. Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar has criticized such a dogmatic mentality for not taking charge as a minister in the 21st century.
He said that due to this delay, government work is being hampered, people are not getting help and their problems are not being solved on time.
