Union Minister of Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari asked the students to focus on research and innovation for the development of the country.
He addressed a meeting organized at Vigyan University in Vadlamudi on Thursday on the occasion of the 10th convocation of the university. Speaking on the occasion, he advised the students to use indigenous technology to solve people's problems.
He said that research plays a vital role in the development of the country, students have a responsibility to use their knowledge and intelligence for the development of the country, and wealth can be created from waste materials with advanced technology.
We need to learn lessons from failures and request students to plan their future taking into account technological developments and changes. There is a need to develop skills to get better opportunities. India's economy will touch $5 trillion in the coming years.
The Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is promoting e-commerce, e-governance, Digital India and the like.
He conferred honorary doctorates on Bharat Biotech International Limited Chairman and MD Dr Krishna Mella, Indian badminton player Srikanth Nammalwar Kidambi, Astra Microwave Products Managing Director MV Reddy and music director MM Keeravani.
1,842 students were awarded degrees and certificates. Vigyan Vidya Sansthan Chairman Lau Rattaiah, MP, Vice President Lau Srikrishnadevarayalu, Registrar MS Raghunathan and others participated in the programme.
