Both houses of the parliament met with an unscheduled premature adjournment for the day on Monday following protests from the members of the Opposition. The protesting members held that their request for a discussion on varied issues was being ignored by the treasury benches. These entailed farmers’ protests in Delhi and the ongoing Manipur conflict, but more prominently: the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) assertions about senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation alleged association with the George Soros Foundation. The ruling has held it as an attempt “to destabilise India”.
