Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan here on Wednesday demanded that the present government give a proper explanation of what they want to achieve by changing the name of NTR University of Health Sciences. In a statement, he expressed his astonishment as to whether the medical facilities in the university and the state would be improved if the university was named YSR instead of NTR.
He expressed concern that the medical facilities in the state are poor and none of the hospitals run by the government across the state have enough beds and staff.
"No medicine. Dr. Sudhakar, who died after being humiliated for asking for masks during Covid, is still a fresh memory of people harassing him."
He concluded that there is no point in changing the name of the university ignoring the creation of infrastructure. He said that this is an attempt by the YSRCP government to divert public attention or create new controversies. He opined that there is nothing wrong with the people because the rulers change their names whenever they change their names.
If you want to change the name, you can change the name of King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam. Its name still smells of British culture. "Anyway, we are celebrating Independence Amrita Mahotsav, one of the medical professionals may later rename Visakhapatnam KGH," he said.
The Jana Sena chief wondered if the powers that be know the name of Svargiya Ellapragada Subbarao, one of the foremost medical experts in the world. If you are thinking of changing the name of the health university with the experts in this field, you can consider the name of Ellapragada Subbarao.
He said that he was a great scientist who discovered medicines for diseases like filarial and typhoid and before changing the names of educational institutions after their family members, the rulers should know the great people who sacrificed their lives for the people.
