Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India will provide an additional loan of 100 million dollars to the Maldives. After bilateral talks between PM Modi and Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, India and Maldives signed six agreements to facilitate cooperation in capacity building, cyber security, housing, disaster management and infrastructure.
Solih also reiterated his country's "firm commitment to combating the threat of terrorism". Sharing pictures of the two, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Tuesday, "The partnership is rooted in the waves of the Indian Ocean, with close historical and cultural ties". Solih met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar after his arrival in New Delhi on Monday.
