A doctor and his two children died in a fire that broke out in a newly constructed private hospital in Renigunta, Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Dr Ravi Shankar Reddy, his son Bharat and daughter Karthika lost their lives His wife Dr. Anantalakshmi and mother were rescued by locals.
A huge fire broke out in Renigunta early in the morning. Two fire engines reached the hospital and brought the fire under control. A fire broke out in the Karthikeya Hospital under construction in Vasanthanagar, Renigunta in the early hours of the morning.
Three people including two children died in this huge fire accident. Police and firemen reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Firefighters rushed Bharat (12) and Karthika (15) to another hospital, where they succumbed to their burns. The condition of the doctor's wife and mother seems to be stable.
A police official said they received information about the fire at 4.50 am on Sunday. In the initial investigation, the police suspect that the fire broke out due to a short circuit. The police said that the actual cause of the fire will be known after a complete investigation.
It is believed that the victims Dr. Ravi Shankar Reddy, son Bharat and daughter Karthika are trapped in the hospital as the fire broke out on the first and second floors of the Karthikeya hospital.
Earlier on Wednesday (September 21), three people died when a fire broke out at a paper plate manufacturing unit in Nellore. A fire broke out in the factory due to a short circuit in the manufacturing unit. Three people were trapped in the factory and died of suffocation. The three deceased were identified as Bhaskar, Delhi Babu and Balaji.
