Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India said that the world is looking towards India with expectations that we will contribute to the solution of global problems like clean energy, water remediation and clean environment.
Professor Ajay said that it is definitely within our scope. He was the chief guest at the 18th convocation of SRM Institute of Science and Technology.
He delivered the graduation day lecture at the SRM Institute of Technology in Kattankulathur near Chennai on Sunday.
7,380 graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, including 107 PhD scholars, received their degrees and 77 students who secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks in their respective subjects were awarded gold medals at the convocation presided over by SRMIST Founder Chancellor Dr. TR Parivender.
The Principal Scientific Adviser also received an honorary degree of Doctorate of Science (Honoris Casa) in recognition of his contribution to the field of science during the graduation day.
Speaking to the graduates, Professor Ajay further said that our research should be at par with the world's best in all disciplines from basic sciences, engineering to humanities. I urge you to push the boundaries of knowledge and translate this knowledge into societal development.
SRMIST Pro Chancellor (Academics) Dr P Satyanarayana, SRMIST Registrar Dr S Ponuswamy SRM Medical College and Research Center Pro-Vice Chancellor (Medical) Col Dr A. Ravikumar and Controller of Examinations at SRMIST Dr K Gunasekhar were also present.
