Defying all expectations and breaking what was believed to be a box office ceiling for Indian films, Pushpa 2: The Rule shattered numerous records on its first day of release. The film made more than Rs 280 crore worldwide on day one, eclipsing SS Rajamouli’s RRR to become the highest-opener in the history of Indian cinema. Starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, the film is a sequel to 2021’s Pushpa: The Rise, which made more than Rs 360 crore worldwide. Pushpa 2 will overtake its predecessor before it completes even one weekend in theatres.
