Raja Singh's wife pleads with TS Guv to release her husband

T Usha Bai, wife of jailed BJP MLA T Raja Singh, on Sunday met Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and sought his intervention in revoking the Preventive Detention (PD) Act imposed on her husband. She accused the state government of targeting Raja Singh for questioning "anti-people policies and activities".

In her argument, Usha claimed that the police had registered cases against her husband for making small comments and statements after conducting an investigation in a special court set up for elected public representatives. She alleged that the state government has failed to prove the charges in most of the cases except a few which are pending.

Usha accused the State government of taking a different line by illegally booking him under the PD Act, and also torturing his followers by summoning them to police stations in the name of inquiry.
