Bollywood actress Richa Chadha turned producer with her debut production 'Girls Will Be Girls' at her production house Pushing Buttons Studio, donning the producer's hat and trying to find the right balance of being an actor and a producer. Early stage artistes in the industry usually become producers at the end of their run as actors.
Elaborating on the same, Richa talks about why she became a producer. She said: "There was a need for certain types of films and I wanted to make them. I would often sit with many people from the industry and discuss the excitement and passion of different ideas. Production was always in the back of my mind, but I could never actively pursue it."
Wearing a producer's hat helped her identify her strengths, "so it may not have been eureka moment for me, but it helped me feel more confident about what was already being built with pushing buttons.
Feeling that there are not enough good roles for female leads, I am ready to do more with the available opportunities," she added.
Talking about her inspiration, she said, "I have always admired Anushka Sharma for trying to do the same with her studio. I personally loved NH 10 and always wanted to make a thriller in that vein.
Maybe I'll think about making something in that genre soon in Pushing Buttons." Richa wraps up the third installment of the comedy buddy franchise Fukrey. The film, which brings back the original star cast along with director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani-owned Excel Entertainment. It's in 2023. Will be released.
