Ronaldo leads Man U victory

By Our Special Correspondent

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo now leads the way for Premier League goals scored by players in home matches this season.

United's no.7 netted his 14th Old Trafford strike of 2021/22 in Monday night's comprehensive 3-0 win over Brentford.

Ronaldo was brought down in the box by Rico Henry during the second half and was awarded a penalty which he got up to dispatch confidently, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

It capped off a Man-of-the-Match performance by the 37-year-old whose relentless hard work off the ball and flair on it saw him record another impressive showing across the 90 minutes.

Ronaldo epitomized United’s verve as he tracked back to halt a dangerous attack from the visitors. He won a penalty in the 60th minute as he powered past Rico Henry and crudely barged to the turf by the Brentford defender. Picking himself up, Ranaldo sent David Raya the wrong way from the spot. The Portugal striker has scored nine of United’s last 11 league goals.
