Senior TDP leader and Politburo member Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has demanded Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to release a white paper on the funds allocated to the agriculture sector in the last three years.
In a statement on Monday, it was pointed out that the state ranks third in farmer suicides even though it is not developing compared to other states.
He accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of neglecting the agriculture sector after becoming the Chief Minister, on an average three farmers commit suicide every day and their families end up on the streets.
He said that the curse of such farmers will haunt the CM. Chandramohan Reddy said that the central government has ignored mechanization and micro irrigation and is implementing two schemes across the country.
If half the schemes had been properly implemented AP would not have faced this predicament, he said to learn from your friend K Chandrasekhar Rao in Telangana who introduced them in his state.
The former agriculture minister alleged that the Agricultural Costs and Prices Commission had also concluded that farmers were not getting the minimum support price.
He said that due to the state government's irresponsible borrowing, each farmer is facing a debt burden of Rs.75 thousand. The former agriculture minister accused the government of not spending the funds allocated for the agriculture sector.
