The Lok Naik Foundation under the chairmanship of official language association Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad will honor the eminent people who worked with him as part of the celebrations of former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao's birth anniversary.
Speaking to media representatives here on Sunday, Lakshmi Prasad said that since the establishment of the foundation 19 years ago, celebrities have been honored every year. The award is popularly known as the Andhra Jnanpeeth, which is worth Rs. 2 lakhs as cash prize.
It will be given to famous writer and actor Tanikella Bharani. The award is usually presented on January 18 every year on the death anniversary of NTR and Harivamsh Roy Bachchan.
However, this year's program has been postponed. It will be released on September 5. NTR is not just an actor, politician and chief minister but also a great social reformer. On the occasion of NTR's birth anniversary, it has been decided to honor those who have worked with NTR since he took charge as the Chief Minister of the united AP.
Among them are NTR's special officer G Ramachandra Rao, personal assistant Mohan, security officer Krishna Rao and driver Laxman. Lakshmi Prasad said that each person will be given a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh at Mizoram Governor K. Haribabu will present the awards on Monday.
