Tollywood stops Telugu film shoots from today

By Our Special Correspondent

The Film Chamber of Commerce announced on Sunday that the Tollywood producers will stop the shooting of the film from Monday.

The Film Chamber general body meeting held in Hyderabad has decided to support the earlier decision of the Active Telugu Producers Guild (ATPG) to stop the shooting of the film from August 1.

Noted producer Dil Raju said that they will sit down and discuss the issues and will not start shooting until a solution is found.

Basireddy, the new president of Film Chamber, said that the meeting unanimously decided to stop the shooting for a few days. With the decision taken in the meeting attended by 48 members, the production of not only new films but also the films in the production stage will be stopped. However, this decision will not affect the shooting of other language films in Hyderabad.

With this decision, the production of famous stars Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, Junior NTR, Prabhas and Vijay Devarakonda will be put on brakes.

The representatives of the Film Chamber are of the opinion that there is a situation in the Telugu film industry where producers, distributors and exhibitors are not happy.

They will meet soon to discuss the various problems they are facing and decide on the steps to be taken to get the film industry back on track. A total of 24 crafts from the film industry will participate in these consultations.

Dil Raju told reporters that the decision was taken in the wake of a number of issues including declining reception in cinemas, movie ticket prices, and new releases on OTT and rising production costs. “A lot has changed after Covid.

"We will sit and discuss how to move forward in the changing situation," he said. We will involve people from all 24 crafts in the talks," Basi Reddy said, hoping for a breakthrough soon.

He said that there will be a discussion on the wage revision demand of the artisans of various handicrafts. Earlier, the producers were divided over the decision to stop the film's shoot from August 1. The Producers' Council disagreed with the Active Telugu Producers Guild (ATPG)'s decision to voluntarily stop the film's shoots from August 1.
