Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar reminded that the central government is giving funds of crores of rupees to meet the needs of poor people and assured that they are ready to give more funds for public welfare.
The Union Minister came to Machilipatnam on Monday to inspect the work of Machilipatnam Medical College and participate in other important programs. Before visiting the medical college, she went to Machilipatnam Collectorate and participated in a response program along with Krishna District Collector P. Ranjith Basha and District SP P. Joshua. During the response, the Union Minister asked to implement the work of the Central Government and its progress.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharti Praveen asked the officials to create awareness about the central schemes and submit the proposals of new projects in the district to the central government through the state government.
"Under the National Health Mission, we have allocated about Rs. 123 crores for the development of medical services in the district. Apart from that, another Rs.79 crore central funds have been spent for various schemes under the Emergency Covid Relief Package.
But we have noticed that there is a delay in the utilization of these funds. Similarly, we have listed around 78 government and private hospitals across Krishna district to provide medical services to the poor under the Ayushman Bharat scheme,” she explained.
She said that through the health insurance scheme, patients will get insurance up to Rs 5 lakh. She said that her government has released huge funds for the construction of 84,614 houses in Krishna district under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
She expressed her displeasure that at least 5 thousand houses were not completed. She explained that another 8,912 TIDCO houses will be sanctioned to the district by next December. She said that nearly Rs 20 crore central funds are being used for the development of fishermen in the district.
After the meeting, the Union Minister visited Machilipatnam Medical College. She was explained about the hospital through a PowerPoint presentation. Officials told her that the hospital was built at a cost of 550 crores and 60 percent of the funds were from the central government.
Officials said the hospital is ready for admission next year and around 150 medical seats will be available. Before coming to Machilipatnam she visited Mopidevi temple and offered special pooja to Lord Subrahmanyeshwara. Avanigadda MLA Simhadri Ramesh gave her temple prasadam.
