World Environment Day

In 1972, the UN General Assembly declared June 5 as World Environment Day. The first ceremony was held in 1973 under the slogan "Only One Earth". Over the years, WED has evolved into a platform to raise awareness of issues facing our environment such as air pollution, plastic pollution, illegal wildlife trade, sustainability Consumption, and sea level rise and food security, among others.
