YSRCP women leaders says, drop in liquor consumption in state

Women and Child Welfare Minister KV Ushasree Charan, MLCs V Kalyani, Potula Sunitha and SC Mala Corporation Chairperson P Ammaji alleged that the previous TDP government encouraged the liquor business and all the liquor shops and brands were owned by TDP leaders and their followers.

Women leaders of the YSR Congress Party spoke to media representatives at different places in the state and said that the majority of liquor brands belong to former ministers and TDP leaders.

Women leaders of YSRCP claimed that after the YSRCP government came to power, the consumption of alcohol has reduced in the state. They said that the sale of liquor from 384.31 lakh cartons in 2018-19 has come down to 278.5 lakh cartons in 2021-22.

Jagan Mohan Reddy government has closed 43 thousand belt shops and canceled permit rooms. To prevent illegal sale of liquor, the number of wine shops has been reduced to 2,934 and the government has started selling liquor.

Women leaders of YSRCP said that TDP government has given permission to 14 distilleries out of total 20 distilleries in the state. He criticized the TDP leaders who are promoting the sale of liquor in the state and are trying to spread false propaganda against the state government.
